THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON CAROTENOIDS

I moved from plant breeding and herbage seed production research (1984 – 1991) and agronomic grassland research with grass-clover (since 1991) to multi-disciplinary research from 1999 onward. Chain-approach projects on grass intake by dairy cows were carried out with animal nutrition scientists and a plant breeding company, and with dairy and food scientists to link feed intake to milk fatty acids; also with plant, animal nutrition, dairy, food and marketing scientists, and companies in the area of plant breeding, concentrate feed manufacturing and dairy processing ( ‘white engine on green fuel’ project). Also projects with cheese companies and farmers’ associations have been carried out. The production-consumption chain ‘from farm to fork’ is being studied for the dairy sector. In addition, collaborative research projects are conducted in the area of grass-legume and herb mixtures, and soil quality in relation to biodiversity. Interest in analytical methods. Since 2011 close collaboration with Aarhus University on forage quality and vitamin contents in grasses, legumes and non-leguminous forbs.
